Josh is the Founder and CEO of Big Plan Holdings, a Nashville, Tennessee based diversified family holding company with investments in various industries. Big Plan Holdings is comprised of Josh, his wife Tara, and their daughters Sydni and Sophie. As a serial entrepreneur, Josh helps lead the family’s vision behind Big Plan Holdings to incubate new business ventures for their own family, along with strategic investments with joint venture partners, and also mentoring and educating up and coming entrepreneurs. Big Plan Holdings investment focus includes industries such as real estate, cannabis, music and entertainment, branding and licensing opportunities, and other unique and diversified positions.
Josh has spent the majority of his professional career in commercial real estate with Principal and brokerage transactions totaling in excess of $1.0 billion. He has consummated real estate deals in over 40 states within the United States and has acquired, developed, sold, and valued properties in nearly every asset class within the real estate industry. His vision behind investing has been strategic and opportunistic, while the clients he has served and continues to serve include some of the country’s largest banks, Special Servicers, and public and private real estate companies.
Josh was a Founder of Grassroots Cannabis (GR Companies, Inc.) a Chicago-based multi-state cannabis company which was founded in 2014 with a sale exit of the company in July 2020 for approximately $850.0 million. Starting with three successful dispensary license applications in Illinois, Josh and his partners built Grassroots to the largest privately-held cannabis company in the United States and the 5th largest cannabis company including all the publicly traded cannabis companies up until the company’s sale. Josh oversaw all real estate site selection, municipal and governmental approvals for the company’s cultivation, processing and retail store footprints. Upon the exit of the company, GR was in 12 states and had grown to over 1,100 employees.
He sits as a Board Member of companies and organizations including SpinIntel, 3rd Eye High, The Lupus Society of Illinois, and The Adlai E. Stevenson High School Foundation. Josh is a graduate of the University of Illinois and splits time between Chicago and Nashville.

Aric Simons received his B.S. in Business from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1984 and received his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 1988; He was admitted to the Illinois State Bar to practice law in November of that year.
Aric’s career has covered many areas including serving as an Administrative Law Judge, counsel to the Illinois State Legislature and counsel to the Italian Consulate in Chicago. The primary focus of his thirty plus years’ experience is the entertainment industry with a concentration in music. Clients include Music Venues (including The Uptown, The Riviera, Vic Theater, Chicago Theatre, Santa Barbara Bowl, Greek Theater LA) Artists (examples include Allman Brothers Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Aerosmith, Buddy Miles), Radio (WXRT, CBS, Café Nashville), ticketing services (Live Access), Concert Promoters (Live Nation, Jam, Nederland, Irving Azoff-MSGE) and tour management (Eventric, Master Tour, UMMGMT, CAA). In addition to the above, Robinson & Simons partnership has licensed many live concert audio-visual streaming and provided contractual services for numerous music festivals. Aric does a significant amount of Pro Bono work as well, including serving as attorney and Board Member of Rock for Kids, NFP (also known as “Foundations of Music”), a charitable organization formed by Jam Productions and WXRT Radio to provide musical instruction and instruments to under-served children and an advisory board position for the ARDS Foundation which promotes research and awareness of respiratory diseases. Offices are located in Chicago and Nashville and the practice employs other attorneys for client services.
Aric is married and a proud parent of two sons.
Amy Nathan is the founder and Executive Director of Gromentum Lab, a cannabis business accelerator focused on launching cannabis-related businesses owned by social equity entrepreneurs in Illinois. Amy sat on Mayor Lightfoot’s Cannabis Task Force advising on matters related to Social Equity and Economic Development in Chicago.
As a recent guest lecturer at Olive Harvey College Cannabis Certificate Program, she spoke about instituting a Growth Mindset and as speaker at Universal Baptist Church’s Workforce Development Program as part of the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Faith-Based Initiatives, she helped new entrants to the cannabis industry learn about navigating paths to employment.
Prior to the cannabis industry, Amy spent decades consulting for companies in highly regulated industries like Financial Services and Health Care, including CVS/Caremark, Blue Cross Blue Shield, BMO Harris, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
She started two small businesses early in her career and worked in a business incubator in the Middle East as a vehicle for community transformation. Since early in her career, she has cultivated a passion for working on breaking barriers for under-resourced populations to overcome challenges to self-sustainment.
